The Chapel of Morgarten commemorates the legendary battle of 1315, in which the Swiss Confederates defended their freedom against the Habsburgs – a founding myth of Switzerland, set right on the border of the cantons of Zug and Schwyz. This trilingually titled steel engraving from the renowned Creuzbauer art publishing house in Karlsruhe stands out for its fine, fresh original hand-colouring and its idyllic pre-Alpine mood with Lake Ägeri.
