About the Work
This powerful original wood engraving depicts the Faulenbach Falls in the Erstfeld Valley — one of the wildest and most romantic gorges of the Canton of Uri, in the heart of central Switzerland. The fine line work, after a drawing by Adolf Closs, masterfully captures the interplay of the roaring torrent, sheer rock faces and the glacier beyond. An ideal collector's piece for lovers of classic Swiss Alpine romanticism, elegantly presented in a gilt frame.
Provenance
The back bears the original sticker 'Original Handdruck' (original hand print), evidence that this is a genuine contemporary impression and not a later reproduction. The print comes from a private collection in Zug and shows the Faulenbach falls in the Erstfeld valley (Uri), signed after A. Closs and engraved by Meyer. Finely set with a multi-layer mount in a classic gilt frame.
