About the Work
Giuseppe Zocchi created the iconic visual memory of 18th-century Florence, and his view of the Ponte Santa Trinita ranks among the finest sheets in the series. The delicate etching technique brilliantly captures the bustling life along the Arno with boats, fishermen and carriages, while the tower of the Palazzo Vecchio dominates the skyline. Set in an elegant genuine-gold frame, this is a timeless piece of Italian Grand Tour culture.
Provenance
An information sheet pasted on the back identifies the artist as Giuseppe Zocchi. The frame comes from the respected Swiss workshop 'Fr. Bürki Einrahmungen, Ostermundigen' and carries an 'Echtgold' (genuine gold) note, evidence of the high-quality framing of this Italian view, carried out in Switzerland.
