About the Work

A charming pair of hand-coloured botanical engravings from the early 19th century, in the tradition of the great English flower plate works such as Loddiges' Botanical Cabinet. The fresh, unfaded watercolour colouring of Verbena Aubletia and Biscutella hispida makes this duo a real eye-catcher. The mounting in fine gold fillet by the renowned St. Gallen art dealer Rudolf Raubach lends the piece a refined Swiss provenance.

Framed and sold by the long-established art dealer Rudolf Raubach in St. Gallen; the original gold label on the back documents the well-kept Swiss provenance. Two hand-coloured botanical copper engravings of the 19th century, mounted as a harmonious pair in a shared gilt frame, with remarkably fresh colours.
