About the Work
This vividly hand-coloured lithograph depicts a splendid procession of boys displaying the legendary Burgundian spoils won by the Swiss Confederates in their victorious battles of Grandson, Murten and Nancy (1476/77) – a founding myth of Swiss national pride. The richly detailed Renaissance costumes, tattered captured banners and the signed composition 'comp: Jenny' make this a wonderfully narrative testament to 19th-century Swiss historical enthusiasm. The original Bernese framing by the Weiersmüller art dealership in Thun underlines its established provenance.
Provenance
Originally framed by the art dealer A. Weiersmüller, Rathausplatz 5, Thun, a traditional Bernese house whose label on the back confirms the long-standing Swiss provenance. The signed, early-coloured sheet 'Knabenzug mit Burgunderbeute' (procession of boys with Burgundian spoils) comes from a private collection in Zug and combines Swiss history, fine colouring and authentic framing.

Bildtitel unten mittig: 'Knabenzug mit Burgunderbeute.' — Signatur unten rechts: 'comp: Jenny'
