About the Work
This plate comes from L. Lagard's celebrated Parisian pattern collection 'La Carrosserie Française' – a catalogue work documenting the finest models of French coachbuilders around the turn of the century. The elegant Char-à-Bancs No. 207 in black and yellow is both a technical document and a decorative gem for any equestrian- or motoring-themed interior. Printed by the legendary Lemercier lithographic workshop in Paris.
Provenance
Label on the back 'Portmann Einrahmungen Zug': the sheet was professionally framed in Zug and comes from a private collection in Zug. The work itself, a model plate from the Paris series 'La Carrosserie Française' by L. Lagard, printed by Lemercier, belongs to the genre of technically elegant carriage depictions of the late 19th century.
