Vevey Seen from the Lake — Hand-Coloured Steel Engraving of the Lake Geneva Town, c. 1850

ca. 1840–1860 (Mitte 19. Jh.)

About the Work

This charming view shows Vevey at its finest — seen from the water with sailing boats, fishermen and a farmer with his ox in the foreground, the town nestled at the foot of the vineyards behind. Engraved by J. Riegel after a drawing by Rohbock, it belongs to the classic Swiss topographical prints of the mid-19th century. The original hand-colouring is beautifully preserved, making this an evocative piece of Lake Geneva romanticism.

Collector Interest

Lake Geneva and Vevey are internationally beloved destinations — the town of Charlie Chaplin, Nestlé and the Riviera Vaudoise. Collectors in the US, Japan and China prize authentic hand-coloured 19th-century Swiss views as elegant, affordable wall art with genuine provenance and a recognisable, aspirational location.

Provenance

Keine Sammler-Notiz vorhanden.
