About the Work

This freshly hand-colored lithograph from 1824 comes from one of the most celebrated early costume series and was printed by the famous workshop of Godefroy Engelmann — the pioneer of lithography in France. The showstopper is the spectacular winged Bernese lace bonnet, making this one of Switzerland's most iconic traditional costumes. As 'N.º 1' of the series and beautifully framed, this print is a genuine decorative highlight.
