Laut Sammler-Notiz stammt dieses Werk aus dem Umfeld des WIEN MUSEUM — das dazugehörige Museumsschild ('Gemeinsam statt getrennt / Together, not Apart') ordnet die Szene der Zeit vor der theresianischen Schulordnung von 1774 zu und erklärt, dass damals nur wenige Mädchen eine Schule besuchten und der Unterricht überwiegend in klösterlich geführten Schulen stattfand. Das Gemälde illustriert genau diesen Moment der frühen Mädchenbildung und ist damit weit mehr als reine Dekoration: ein authentisches Zeitzeugnis in einem prächtigen Originalrahmen.
